Possible Causes Of Trauma

A person may suffer from trauma when they are in a situation that is so far beyond scary that it is in the realms of terror, and they feel completely alone and helpless in preventing it from happening. Some people bounce back from events like this relatively quickly, whilst others can be traumatised by much lesser events. This is because it is your perception of the experience that is more important than the event itself in creating a person’s trauma.

Emotional and psychological trauma can occur as a result of either a single event, such as a plane crash or death of a partner, or after numerous or ongoing traumatising experiences such as living through a war or coping with a terminal illness.

Childhood trauma is the most difficult to manage or cure as it can be deeply imbedded in the subconscious of the person. Unfortunately, it is also the case that if you suffered a childhood trauma you are more likely to fall into the state of trauma again if faced with a traumatic event in adulthood.
