Tackling The Problem Of Stress

Stress is something we all feel from time to time. Often it can be managed and then it subsides, but if you feel you may have a bigger problem with stress then here are a few handy tips for dealing with it:

  • Identify the cause – The first step to a cure is to know what causes you most stress. When you know what it might be you can take steps to reduce your exposure to it and hopefully reduce your stress.
  • Change your pattern – Once you have identified the source of your stress you can avoid it, prepare better for it, or react differently to it.
  • Prepare – Knowing what stresses you enables you to plan to reduce the risk of becoming stressed from it in the future.
  • Time management – Work smarter not harder. If you are trying to take on too much at home or at work learn to say no, to prioritise or to prepare better.
  • Re-prioritize – Are you always bottom of the list when it comes to your own priorities? Start taking care of yourself for a change.
  • Check your react-o-graph – Are you overreacting? Do you blow your top for no apparent reason? Check yourself when you start to feel the stress welling up and release it in a healthy fashion.
  • The healthy release – Learn to show your emotions whenever you can; laugh, cry, tell someone you love them. The more you release the emotions pent up inside you, the less likely they are to overflow when you get a little stressed.
  • Talk about it – If you have someone to tell when things get a little too much this can be a fantastic release. If you do not, then there are plenty of professionals out there who are more than happy to listen should you want them to.
