Possible Causes Of Bereavement

Everyone experiences grief in different ways. How you handle bereavement can be influenced by:

The circumstances

For those who have passed away after a long term illness as opposed to having been torn from this world by a sudden event, their loved ones will have had more of a chance to come to terms with the loss.

Your relationship

The closer you were, the more difficult it is likely to be to cope with their loss.

How were things left?

How well did you get on with them in life? What was the last thing that you said to them and were there any unresolved issues between you? These can influence your recovery period, sometimes no matter how close a relation or friend they were.

How you cope naturally

If you find everyday troubles difficult to cope with, you may find that you struggle more with the loss of someone close to you. If you have a naturally resilient constitution you will undoubtedly feel the same pain and loss, but you are likely to regain your equilibrium more rapidly.

Life experience

To have experienced the death of someone close to you before, or to have helped someone else through it, provides you with an understanding which can help you to more rapidly work through your grief.
