Anxiety
|
Everyone suffers from mild anxiety from time to time throughout their lives; it is a perfectly normal human emotion. Anxiety is the feeling of discomfort or unease developed through evolution to warn us of danger and is part of the body’s natural “fight or flight” response to threats. However, in around 10% of us this emotion can get out of control and may be triggered without reason. The effects may be felt for prolonged periods of time or the feelings of dread may become extreme. Anxiety can become a debilitating disorder if left unchecked. The more often or intense the anxiety strikes, the more likely you are to worry about the symptoms that it causes or even to become anxious about the anxiety itself. The result is that a huge amount of time and energy is spent worrying and attempting to avoid the symptoms to the detriment of other things in your life. To tackle your anxiety, the first step is to understand it. Identifying the root cause or causes can certainly make it easier to manage or treat.
